The EBF experience has drastically impacted my dream career path, provided me with invaluable experience in one of the largest media markets and mostly importantly, given me hope that people who look like me can still thrive in my dream field.
With the help of EBF, I was immersed in a newsroom for two summers that solidified my goal to work in journalism and news, despite how bleak the future may look. The experience reinforced the importance of local journalism and my love for writing to inform the public.
I have developed relationships and mentors that I know will support me in my future endeavors, and I am extremely appreciative to the foundation for giving me not only an amazing experience, but a continuing network that will have my back.

Planned & Legacy Giving
A legacy gift to the Emma Bowen Foundation is a powerful way to invest in future generations.
Planned giving allows you to align your charitable goals with your financial and estate plans while helping ensure that EBF’s mission continues well into the future.
Ways to Make a Planned Gift
Bequests (Through a Will or Trust)
You may include EBF in your will or trust by designating:
A specific dollar amount
A percentage of your estate
A residual portion of your estate
Beneficiary Designations
You can name EBF as a beneficiary of:
A retirement account such as an IRA or 401(k)
A life insurance policy
These gifts are often simple to arrange and may allow you to make a significant future impact without affecting your current financial security.
IRA Charitable Gifts (Qualified Charitable Distributions)
If you are age 70½ or older, you may be eligible to make a direct transfer from your IRA to EBF. These gifts may satisfy required minimum distributions and offer potential tax benefits.
Legacy gifts of all sizes make a lasting difference and help expand access and opportunity for promising talent for years to come.
If you are considering including EBF in your plans, or if you have already done so, we would be honored to speak with you confidentially and ensure we understand your wishes. Please feel free to contact Ayia directly at ayia@emmabowenfoundation.org.

The Emma Bowen Foundation has been instrumental in advancing my journalism career. During college, I interned with them in various Chicago newsrooms. Now, I produce national news for NBC and MSNBC’s Early Today. Their support was pivotal in my journey, and I am deeply grateful to consider them family and to have the chance to give back.
